Advanced text effect

In this thoroughly explained, detailed flash lesson, I will show you how to create advanced text effect. You don't have to use action script code to make this lesson. Using this lesson, you will also learn how to break apart any text, how to convert every letter into a Movie Clip Symbol, how to animate every letter, how to enlarge every letter using a Free Transform Tool (Q), how to apply Alpha effect on every letter and much much more! You can use this text effect for any flash banner, animation or some presentation.

Example:



Step 1

Create a new flash document and set your Flash movie's frame rate to 30 and click ok.



Step 2

Select the Text Tool (A), choose any font, any size and type some text.



Step 3

While the text is still selected, choose Modify > Break Apart (Ctrl+B) to break apart this text.




Step 4

Choose now Modify > Timeline > Distribute to Layers (Ctrl+Shift+D).



Step 5

Now, you're place every latter in a separate layer. See the picture below!



Step 6

Select now just first letter and hit F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert it into a Movie Clip Symbol. See the picture below!



Step 7

Click now on frame 7 and hit F6 key. Go back now on the first frame, select the Free Transform Tool (Q), press and hold down Shift key and enlarge the first letter like it is show on the picture below!



Step 8

After that, select the Selection Tool (V) and click once on the letter to select it. Then, go to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage. On the right, you will see the Color menu. Select Alpha in it and put it down to 0%.



Step 9

Right-click anywhere on the gray area between the two keyframes on the timeline and choose Create Motion Tween from the menu that appears.



Step 10

Select now the Selection Tool (V) and using the drag and drop technique, move the second letter on frame 5. See the picture below!



Step 11

While the letter is still selected, hit again F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert the second letter into a Movie Clip Symbol.



Step 12

Click now on frame 12 and hit F6 key.

Step 13

Go back now on frame 5 and repeat steps 7 and 8.

Step 14

Right-click anywhere on the gray area between the two keyframes on the timeline and choose Create Motion Tween from the menu that appears.



Step 15

Click now on frame 12 of layer of the first letter and hit F5 key. See the picture below!



We're done now with the first two letters. Repeat this process also for every other letters.
